How We Promote Diversity and Inclusion
Inclusion and diversity within our workforce are of particular importance to us. We are building a team that reflects the diversity of our sites. There are five key areas of focus:
- Leadership: We promote respectful behavior in our management academy.
- Equality: We promote gender equality and diversity of sexual orientation through respectful interactions.
- Inclusion: We provide a working environment that enables all employees to succeed.
- Generations: We strengthen cross-generational skills through mixed-age teams.
- Culture: We promote a strong cultural awareness through curiosity and exchange.
Our measures are ambitious and effective. They are taking effect.
We want our employees to perceive the work environment at K+S as positive and inclusive. To this end, we have implemented numerous measures. We strive to achieve a balanced gender ratio, promote cross-generational collaboration, and support employees with performance limitations. These measures are proving effective — key indicators of employee satisfaction and inclusion are improving. We are pleased with this interim result, which motivates us to continue moving forward.
Exciting Working Environment Thanks to Diversity and Inclusion
Women in Mining: Underground, we are all mining buddies
My gender plays no role whatsoever at work. Here in Zielitz, we don't live by the saying, "Women have no place in mining."
While working in Australia, Miriam observed that women are naturally part of the team in mines. She carried this mindset with her when she started her job in Zielitz. She feels very comfortable in her traditionally male-dominated profession and has been recognized as a leader.
Innovative Leadership Model: Top Sharing
How does dual leadership work? Since 2024, Dr. Barbara Volmert and Christina Kordes have led the Environmental Law, Permits & Regulatory Affairs unit through an innovative top-sharing model — a first for K+S. In this interview, the two lawyers discuss how they are shaping the organization as a leadership duo.
Even with restrictions, miners make it possible.
Despite his severe physical limitations, Bernd Heise has returned to work underground, which demonstrates the power of solidarity.
Thanks to the close collaboration of the representative body for severely disabled employees, the reintegration management team, and a specially converted vehicle, as well as the strong support of his colleagues, Bernd was able to rejoin the team.
Religious Diversity in Agriculture
"Working with people from different cultures and religious backgrounds has broadened my view of the world." For Ahmed Wahbi, the Regional Sales Manager at K+S Middle East in Dubai, this is an enriching part of everyday life, as it is for many K+S employees. After all, agriculture today is more international than ever before.
Cross-Generational Collaboration
We not only enrich life for generations—we also have generations working side by side.
Experienced colleagues share valuable knowledge, and younger colleagues contribute fresh ideas and perspectives. These diverse teams inspire and learn from each other to achieve success together.
