Magnesium sulphate, potassium chloride and potassium sulphate are used as micronutrients in biotechnological procedures. Typical areas of application are yeast production as well as fermentation reactions for the production of proteins, enzymes, ethanol, vitamins, etc.

Sodium chloride is used as a basic ingredient in detergent processing. When used as an ingredient in heavy-duty detergents, magnesium sulfate helps protect fabrics and has a neutral behaviour towards waste water. In liquid soaps, laundry detergents, and rinsing agents, magnesium sulfate is used to regulate viscosity.

In leather production, sodium chloride is used for the traditional preservation and preparation of animal hides. It has antibacterial properties and draws water out of the hides, thereby slowing down decomposition processes and stabilizing the hides for further processing.

Magnesium sulphate prevents leather from drying out and makes it more supple. It also promotes the binding of tanning agents.

Magnesium sulphate is needed in the processing of refractory materials. It is used to stabilize the green part during the drying and sintering process.

Depending on the production process, potassium chloride or magnesium sulphate can be used as auxiliary materials in the production of titanium dioxide. The excellent quality of these auxiliary materials has positive effects on particle size and brightness.
