Following the change in leadership at K+S

CEO Meyer and his team have taken up their duties

02.06.2025
The management team of K+S Aktiengesellschaft, the Kassel-based fertilizer and salt producer, has undergone a reorganization. As of June 1, the former CFO, Dr. Christian H. Meyer, has assumed the role of CEO. Together with the other members of the Board of Executives Directors, he will guide the strategic direction of the MDAX-listed company, which has a global workforce of over 11,000 employees.

Meyer is succeeding Dr. Burkhard Lohr as CEO, who has decided not to extend his term after eight years in this role. Dr. Jens Christian Keuthen, who has been a member of the Board of Executive Directors since February of this year, will assume the role of CFO with immediate effect. The four-member Board of Executive Directors also includes Meyer's deputy, Dr. Carin-Martina Tröltzsch, COO, and Christina Daske, Labor Director.

Meyer has been a member of the K+S Board of Executive Directors since March 2023. He has, however, known the Company for more than 20 years, during which time he served K+S as an auditor and tax advisor. The 54-year-old holds a lectureship in Group Accounting at Georg August University in Göttingen.

Transformation as the greatest challenge

"The greatest challenge in the years ahead will be the successful transformation of our Company," Meyer stated upon assuming the role of CEO. The two major projects Werra 2060 and Bethune Ramp-up play a central role in this context. These projects will fundamentally transform potash production at K+S's largest site, the Werra plant, and double the production capacity of the Canadian plant in the long term. "It is also imperative that we ensure the Company's ongoing success by driving digitalization and the energy transition, while taking advantage of artificial intelligence strategically within our organization," Meyer adds.

It is, however, important to note that this encompasses more than just technical development. Meyer: "It is essential that we leverage our employees' expertise and proficiency. A well-functioning team is the key to success. Maintaining effective communication across all sites, departments, and hierarchical levels is of utmost importance. This will enable us to successfully navigate the upcoming transformation and continue to make a significant contribution to the security of raw materials in and independence of Germany and Europe."
