K+S order opens up prospects for 300 jobs

Kassel, 08.03.2018
The conclusion by K+S of an agreement on the construction of 160 bulk material freight cars has ensured that WBN Waggonbau Niesky will have more work for now. WBN filed for insolvency at the end of December 2017. This placed about 300 jobs in the district of Görlitz in the state of Saxony at risk.

Together with WBN, K+S has developed an innovative bulk goods freight car that is to be used for deliveries to fertilizer customers across Europe. The order, which is to be completed by the end of 2018, means that K+S will account for major part of the volume of orders placed with WBN. That WBN will be able to continue operating thanks to the involvement of K+S will create better prospects for the Upper Lusatian labor market and will also help with efforts to find a new investor that could continue to operate the business.

K+S will invest a figure in the low double-digit millions range in the construction of the freight cars.
