Your Responsibilities
We are seeking a 2nd Class Power Engineer to join KSPC’s Evaporations and Utilities Operations Team, responsible for operating and maintaining critical systems including high-pressure boilers, gas turbines, power generation equipment, site utilities, and tank farm operations. This role is ideal for a safety-focused, technically skilled professional who thrives in a high-responsibility environment and is committed to operational excellence.
The Power Engineer will report directly to the Production Improvement Coordinator, Utilities and Evaporation. A key highlight of this opportunity is KSPC’s new Cogen Facility, currently under construction. The successful candidate will have the unique opportunity to contribute to the startup, testing, and optimization of a state-of-the-art power generation plant featuring natural gas turbines and heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs), gaining hands-on experience with advanced energy technologies while making a significant impact on a major site project.
What You’ll Be Doing
Operate and monitor boilers, gas turbine generators, HRSG, tank farm, multiple effect evaporators and other plant utilities systems to ensure safe, stable, and optimized performance.
Act quickly and decisively to troubleshoot process upsets, identify root causes, and return systems to normal operating conditions.
Lead and support plant start-ups, shutdowns, equipment isolations, and handovers with precision and accountability.
Use SAP and digital tools to document operational data, initiate maintenance work orders, and keep detailed, accurate records.
Collaborate closely with other operations and maintenance teams to ensure safe, reliable and continuous plant performance.
Conduct regular equipment inspections, contribute to reliability-centered maintenance planning, and proactively identify improvement opportunities.
Maintain a strong safety culture, following lockout/tagout procedures, permitting requirements, and environmental controls.
Uphold and reinforce operating discipline through the consistent application of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions and Lockout Protocols.
What We’re Looking For
Valid 2nd Class Power Engineer’s Certificate (Saskatchewan or Interprovincial). Consideration will be given to high achieving 3rd Class Power Engineers making proven progress towards obtaining their 2nd Class.
Solid operational experience in large-scale industrial, energy, chemical, or resource processing facilities.
Ability to read P&IDs, interpret control system data, and write technical logs and reports.
Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, and situational awareness skills—you know what to look for and how to respond.
A team-first attitude, paired with self-motivation and personal accountability.
A strong track record of safety leadership and operational discipline.
Comfortable working in a dynamic, high-performance team where adaptability and initiative are key.
