K+S divests waste management Group company in Switzerland

Kassel, 17.01.2020
K+S sold its Group company K+S Entsorgung (Schweiz) AG to the Swiss-based Thommen-Furler Group. The selling price is in the lower single-digit million euro range. The sale of the company is related to the package of measures adopted on December 10, 2019 to quickly generate value and reduce indebtedness.

K+S Entsorgung (Schweiz) AG, based in Delémont, specializes in the disposal and recovery of inorganic filter dust, sludge and ashes. Waste from industry, commerce and the public sector in Switzerland is disposed of in the two K+S underground disposal sites in Herfa-Neurode and Zielitz in Germany. Close cooperation with the K+S waste management unit is also envisaged following the integration of the company into the Thommen-Furler Group.

The Thommen-Furler Group, headquartered in Rüti near Büren, is an owner-managed family business with annual revenues of approximately CHF 180 million. The Group’s business focus is on the distribution of chemicals, specialties and lubricants, environmental technology, and the disposal and recycling of industrial and hazardous waste. The Thommen-Furler Group employs 330 people at a total of seven operating sites.
