Your Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, PMO, the Project Planner & Scheduler is responsible for developing and maintaining detailed schedules to evaluate, plan and manage projects. This position is responsible to ensure that project schedules are continuously developed through the stage gate phases and that they represent an accurate and achievable plan inclusive of all stakeholder inputs and operational requirements.  In addition, this position is responsible to support the Portfolio Planning & Reporting Analyst in the Owners Team Workforce plans including Time Tracking for the overall portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain study, project execution, and commissioning schedules in alignment with the overall project portfolio.

  • Perform analyses of baselined schedules for risks, critical path and earned value management.

  • Coordinate project-specific schedule risk assessment activities to support Study & Project Managers and risk owners.

  • Establish high level project timelines, milestones, deadlines and resources for the project during project intake and portfolio planning to support the midterm planning process.

  • Provide input into study and execution plans as they are identified and incorporating approved plans into the project schedule.

  • Track, review and incorporate (once approved) project schedule changes (e.g., design changes, scope changes, procurement delays) and report as per the agreed governance framework.

  • Contribute to establishing KSPC scheduling standards and best practices in alignment with the K+S Organization Handbook and Project Management Manual.

  • Evaluate 3rd party Contractor schedules and perform schedule audits.

  • Administration and monitoring of actual progress (physical % complete) vs planned progress and KPIs including bar charts, s-curves, manpower histograms and schedule performance indexes.  Provide exception reporting and recommended actions (as required).

  • Work with Project Managers, Engineers and Procurement to develop and maintain procurement tracking lists for long lead equipment.

  • Support portfolio schedule to have a forecast look ahead of at least 3 years and is to be issued quarterly at minimum.

  • Schedules providing an Overview of Project timelines, stages and status to Project Manager.

  • Facilitate and coordinate cross-functional planning & reviews of project schedules prior to gates and baselining.

  • Provide input and review in the RFP process, including participating in Scope of Work (SOW) development and Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE).

  • Perform quality assurance analysis on project schedules and reports, and coordinate with Study & Project Managers to rectify risks and non-conformances prior to gates and baselining.

  • Identify, establish and monitor interdependencies and synergies between projects to support planning of portfolio execution strategies.

  • Develop schedule layouts and reporting structures to support the functional needs of KSPC stakeholders and supervisors

Requirements

Your Profile

Qualifications & Experience

  • Engineering Technologist with 3-5 years of experience in a heavy industrial process setting.

  • Strong software experience in scheduling platform Primavera P6 and Excel.

  • The detailed nature of data management requires exceptional organizational skills. The data and schedules are crucial to making key decisions that directly affect maintenance and operations.

  • 3+ years’ experience project management experience on large multi-year projects and small maintenance projects.

  • Builds and maintains positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Develops and continually refines best-practice programs and policies related to subject matter.

  • Proven ability to build and maintain productive stakeholder relationships.

  • Aptitude for facilitating knowledge sharing within teams and across departments.

  • Proficient in understanding the business of projects, ensuring alignment of project objectives with overarching organizational goals and delivering measurable value to stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability in systems-level thinking.

  • Adept at leading organizational transformations through change management.

  • Proficient in data-driven decision-making and business intelligence, leveraging analytical tools and methodologies to enable informed strategic decisions, optimize processes and drive continuous improvement.

  • Proven ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Employment is subject to successfully completing KSPC’s pre-employment checks which may include criminal record check, education verification, functional fitness evaluation and drug and alcohol testing.

The role may be based in Saskatoon or at out Bethune Mine site.
