... Christopher is an apprentice mining technologist specializing in civil engineering. The 18-year-old is completing his second year of training at the Zielitz potash plant. In his spare time, he is also involved in the youth fire brigade.

Christopher's work day begins in the dressing room above ground. Here he changes into his work clothes made for mining.

In the lamp room Christopher equips himself with a pit lamp and a self-rescuer device. These are his constant companions for safety.

In about two minutes he's at a depth of 700 meters with the elevator. Once there, he and his colleagues make their way to the vehicle.
