Our mission

At the core of our innovation activities are the development of growth themes through the carefully targeted promotion of K+S intrapreneurs. We use the know-how and innovative strength of K+S employees and provide them with methods and programs for developing ideas and business models in a protected environment. Projects that have reached a promising degree of maturity are supported in scaling up with additional competencies and measures. 

These activities are complemented by our start-up program, in which we combine the power of in-house innovation with the agility of the start-up culture through partnerships with external start-ups. In ROOTCAMP, the Spinlab incubator in Hanover, we bring together internal and external innovation drivers thereby generating new ways of thinking.

In addition, the Innopark Sigmundshall (near Hanover) offers ideal conditions for giving innovative technologies the opportunity for further development, testing and adaptation to industrial production in the company's own production facilities.

Besides commercial goals, we also see ourselves as transformers that drive cultural change at K+S.

 

Intrapreneure

How we promote our employees' ideas

K+S actively promotes the ideas of its employees. We support intrapreneurs from the generation of ideas to the finished business model thereby bringing our own innovations to implementation quickly.

With the K+S Kickbox to the first prototype in 10 weeks

If a K+S employee has an innovative idea, they receive the K+S Kickbox. It provides motivation, instructions and templates for a 10-week process. Immediate feedback plays a central role. Employees go through short development cycles in which they repeatedly check their intermediate steps up to the finished prototype. Here the credo applies: Fake it 'till you make it.

From customer feedback to presentable results

The prototype is the basis for customer interviews. This allows the innovator to receive immediate feedback from the target group and can make valid statements as to whether customers are interested in their solution.

Finally, the results must be prepared and presented to leadership. If the idea is convincing, K+S sets up an innovation project and, as a "corporate start-up", the employee is then given the opportunity to drive their project to market maturity in the ROOTCAMP.

Implementation in ROOTCAMP

The implementation of promising ideas takes place in 3 defined phases, in which the idea provider receives the best possible support and initial project budgets.

ROOTCAMP offers suitable coworking rooms as well as a professional team for the intrapreneurs. This team supports the projects with their many years of experience in providing advice and assistance. The corporate start-ups receive intensive coaching, mentoring, and a project budget to lead their innovation projects through the following 3 phases to success, get the opportunity to learn from and with other start-ups, and meet other professionals from their field.
