Your Responsibilities

As the Maintenance Planner for Morton Salt Grantville, facility, your role:  analyzes work orders, operating guidelines and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labour estimates for services, applying knowledge of specialized techniques or processes. Creates weekly and daily execution schedules to address unit priorities of ready-to-work work orders.  Computes cost factors and prepares estimates used for management purposes, such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors or subcontractors, and determining cost-effectiveness. In addition, the planner-scheduler requisitions materials to complete job packages.  

The Planner/Scheduler provides comprehensive development of work order/work package documentation and estimates, including material requisitions. The product of planning is an organized task complying with current facility guidelines and execution needs.  He/She produces weekly and daily schedules in compliance with plant priorities and governing plant guidelines.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Reference equipment and technical information including blueprints and specifications

Review new ready to plan work orders

Update work order status in CMMS

Update operation restriction information

Maintain equipment availability status

Build weekly maintenance schedule

Build daily maintenance schedule

Review priority and sort work orders

Respond to schedule break demands

Lead schedule meetings

Document and distribute schedules

Provide conflict feedback to customer

Review material needs

Requisition needed materials

Evaluate procedural requirements

Request needed procedures

Evaluate regulatory requirements

Request regulatory compliance support

Evaluate documentation requirements

Provide documentation input format

Evaluate special equipment needs

Evaluate QA/QC requirements

Develop detailed work order package

Review backlog for related work orders

Participate in job walk-through

Oversee and manage MOC to work orders

Generate standard jobs

Establish planned craft resources

Confirm WO scope meets expectations

Document definition and estimates in the CMMS

Close work orders

Generate and maintain all maintenance metrics

Discuss reliability/maintenance improvement with Unit Engineer

Your Profile

Morton Salt values and recognizes the diversity of the workforce, and is looking for talented individuals with: Fifth year college or university program certificate (industrial maintenance, electrical automotive/diesel mechanics or engineering); or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals and professional journals.  Speak and write well in english. Good problem solving skills.
